Question

What is the steady state potential (in V) of point a with respect to point b in figure when switch S is open?

Solution

At stady state, the capacitors are fully charged and thus it does not allow to pass d.c through them and hence they act as open switch at steady state. Also as the switch is open, thus no current flows through the circuit.
Va=+18 V and Vb=0 V
VaVb=18 V
