Question

What is the use of sedimentation and decantation and filtration because still after this processes germs are there in water, can we directly do distillation for insoluble impurities instead of these processes

Solution

Sedimentation is the process of the heavier component in a mixture settling down after adding water to it. Decantation is removing the the water, along with dust. To further remove dust, use filtration. Example – Decantation helps a little in removing the tea leaves but filtration helps further. Decantation is also used to separate liquids that don’t mix with each other.

All of the above cannot be done just by distillation an also it would have been a slow process
