Question

What is the weight of the body placed at the centre of the Earth?

Open in App
Solution

Assuming earth to be a sphere, from the centre of the earth the mass of the earth is uniform all across. Hence, there will be no force on any object kept at the centre. Weight is nothing but force of gravity on an object. Since force on an object is zero, weight of the body placed at the centre of the Earth will be zero.
