What is transpiration? Where does it occur?

Open in App
Solution

Transpiration is the process in which there is a loss of water in the form of water vapour from the stomatal openings. It is beneficial to the plants due to its role in the ascent of sap, absorption and translocation of mineral salts and in the regulation of the temperature of plant tissues. Generally, the process of transpiration occurs through the openings of the stomata. It also occurs in smaller extent through the lenticels and cuticle.
