What is valency factor of acids in a given reaction?
Number of replaceable H+ ions; in the solution
Valency factor / n - factor is a very useful conversion factor by which we divide the molar mass of a substance to get the equivalent mass and it depends on the nature of the substance which varies from one condition to another condition.
Examples of valency factors for acids:
(i) HCl → valency factor = 1
(ii) HNO3 → valency factor = 1
(iii) H2SO3 → valency factor = 1 or 2 depending on extent of reaction.
