Question

What kind of mixture is Glucose?

Open in App
Solution

  • Glucose (C6H12O6) is an organic compound composed of elements Carbon (C), Hydrogen (H) and Oxygen (O) and is a pure substance, not a mixture.
  • Glucose is a white crystalline substance and is very soluble in water.
  • Its physical and chemical properties are totally different from that of C, H and O and Glucose cannot be separated into its constituent elements by using simple physical methods.
  • When glucose is mixed with water in any proportion, a homogenous mixture is formed.
  • This we could assert because it forms a mixture that is uniform in nature. The size of the particles here is very small and can't be seen through naked eyes.
  • Also, solute particles can't be separated through filter paper.
  • Hence, Glucose forms a homogeneous mixture.
