What measures should be taken to solve the problem of deforestation?
All of these
The following measures can be taken to reduce the environmental effects of deforestation:
(i) Recycling and reducing use: It takes 17 full grown trees to make one tonne of paper, hence reusing paper will reduce the need to cut down more trees. Using resources in a sustainable way i.e. reducing demand can help reducing deforestation.
(ii) Reforestation: Planting trees in deforested lands can help restore the area to some extent. If the same species of trees, which were cut, are replanted and the area is left undisturbed, the forest should reestablish itself.
(iii) Switching to renewable forms of energy: Reducing the use of firewood and using renewable energy can reduce deforestation.
