Biopesticides are pesticides derived from naturally occurring sources, such as microorganisms, plants, animals, and a few minerals.

Microbes as biopesticides:

  1. Phytophthora (bioherbicides), Trichoderma (bio fungicides), B. sphaericus, and Bacillus thuringiensis (bioinsecticides) are some of the commonly used biopesticides.
  2. They are living entities pathogenic for the specific pest.
  3. Almost all biopesticides are approved for organic production, and most products approved for organic production are biopesticides
  4. The botanical biopesticides are considered to be very effective for the protection of plants.
