If the spots produced on the chromatogram for two different substances are same, both the substance contain the same dye and hence one of the substance is a constituent of the other. However if the spots produced are not the same, then the substance is not contained in the other

Since the spot produced by fruit juice and maltose on the chromatogram is different, we can conclude that maltose is not contained in the fruit juice
