Question

What type of bond exists between HF, NH3, C2H5OH molecules?

Open in App
Solution

Type of bonds-
HF Polar covaleny bond as the bonding epair shifted more towards F due to its high electronegativity.
NH3 Covalent bond, as both N and H are non-metal and does not have tendency to donate e to each other, thus they share e and form covalent bond.
C2H5OH Two types of bonding.
(a) bonding between CH is non- polar covalent bond as their electronegativity are almost similar.
(b) bonding between CO and OH it is polar covalent bond due to the high electronegativity of O, polarity arises.
