What type of cell division do plants undergo? (Mitosis or meiosis)

Open in App
Solution

Dear student

Cell division is the process by which plant duplicates itself.
They are of both types in plants :-
1. Mitosis
2. Meiosis.
In mitosis plant maintains its chromosome number. Division is initiated by Karyokinesis followed by Cytokinesis.
By mitosis plant repair its damaged cells or tissues.
During sexual life cycle of plant, gamete formation is initiated by meiosis in which chromosome number is reduced to half.
Thus both Mitosis and meiosis take place in plants.
