The simple columnar epithelium is madeof a single layer of tall cells with round to oval nuclei.
Some cells bear cilia.
They are located in non-ciliated type lines in most of the digestive tract stomach to the anal canal, gallbladder, and excretory ducts of some glands; ciliated variety lines small bronchi, uterine tube, and some regions of the uterus.
The layer may contain mucus-secreting unicellular glands called goblet cells.
Their function is absorption, and secretion of mucus and other substances, ciliated type propels mucus or reproductive cells by ciliary action.
