Solution

Ammonium chlorideNH4Cl

  • The ammonium chloride consists of two ions NH4+ and Cl-.
  • The ammonium ion consists of four covalent bonds between the nitrogen and hydrogen atom
  • An electrovalent or ionic bond is existing between the ammonium ion and chloride ion.
  • Hence, In total, we have 5 bonds, 4 covalent nitrogen hydrogen bonds, and 1 electrovalent or ionic bond between ammonium ion and chloride ion.

Molar mass

  • Mass of N - 14
  • Mass of H - 1
  • Mass of Cl - 35.5
  • Hence the mass of NH4Cl= 14 + (4 x 1) + 35.5 = 53.5 g
