Two New Dominions: India was partitioned and two independent Dominions, India and Pakistan. They were created on August 15, 1947.
Provisions of Partition: Both Bengal and Punjab were divided into two parts. North West Frontier Province, as well as Sylhet district (Muslim majority area), joined west and east Pakistan respectively.
