The objective of the Treaty of Vienna was to undo most of the changes that had come about in Europe during the Napoleonic wars.
The Bourbon Dynasty was restored to power in France.
France also lost all of the territories it had gained under Napoleon.
A number of states were set up sharing boundaries with France in order to check future French expansion.
The Netherlands was added to the North and Piedmont saw the addition of Genoa in the South.
Prussia gained new territories on its western frontier and also a part of Saxony. Austria gained control over northern Italy, while Russia acquired a part of Poland.
