Dear Student,
From the sixteenth century onwards, the European trading companies began buying Indian textiles. The Indian textiles were famous all across the world for their quality and designs which are highly sophisticated in nature. Having being attracted to the Indian textiles, the French trading company bought them at cheaper prices to sell them back in Europe at higher prices. Through the trade of textiles from India, the French traders have acquired huge profits. The fine quality of cotton and silk produced in India had a high demand in France and other European countries. These were the reasons behind the French trading companies buying textiles from India.
