If cell wall of a plant is damaged, the cell will be collapsed. The cell wall separates the cytoplasm from external environment and protects cell organelles. without cell wall they will be damaged. Cell also acts as permeable membrane for solvents and ions which cannot happen when cell wall is damaged. Depending on osmotic conditions cell will either swell or burst. Cell looses it shapes and dies.
