Question

(i) cloudy day in morning but bright sunshine in the afternoon.
(ii) no rainfall in the area for a considerable time.
(iii) gathering of dust on the leaves.

Solution

(i) As sunlight has an essential role in photosynthesis and due to clouds in morning, sunlight will not be able to reach the plants for photosynthesis.
  • Thus, the rate of photosynthesis will decrease.
  • When bright sunshine happens in the afternoon, the rate will increase.

(ii) The rate of photosynthesis will decrease when there is no rainfall in the area for a long time and plants will dry up.

  • Because water is essential for photosynthesis, the process by which green plants make their own food using sunlight and carbon dioxide.

(iii) Dust on leaves, will decrease the rate of photosynthesis as the stoma present on leaves will be covered with dust, due to which necessary exchange of gases won't be possible.

  • Due to absence of carbon dioxide, photosynthesis won't take place.
