Question

what would happen if plants cells and animalcells were to have the similar structures and function/

Open in App
Solution

Plant cells and animal cells posses almost similar cell organelles except that the plant cells contain cell wall, a large central vacuole and plastids. In animal cells, a centriole is present which is absent in plant cells. The structure of the cell of an organism is according to living habitat of that particular organism. If animals would have chloroplast, then they would also be able to perform photosynthesis. Also, if plants would not have cell wall as in animal cells, they would not be able to protect themselves from the unfavourable environment conditions. Hence, the difference between the structure of the cell exists among the plants and animals.
