Question

what would happen if the leaves of a plant did not lose water through transpiration?

Open in App
Solution

Plants transpire vast quantities of water as the rate of transpiration depends on many factors such as increased temperature, water supply, sunlight intensity. So only one per cent of all water a plant absorb is used in photosynthesis (a process through which plant makes their own food). If the temperature is more than it will transpire. If it does not transpire water, then there are chances that the plant may die because of more accumulation of water in the plant body.
