Solution

The correct option is A 200 J
Work done by external force in taking mass m from infinity to a point P is related to the gravitational field as ,

Wext(P)m=VPVAs, V=0

Wext(P)m=VP0=VP

Wext(P)=mVP

Thus, gravitational potential at point P is

VP=Wext(P)m=1002=50 J/kg

If mass is doubled and taken from P to ,

Wext(P)=(4×50) J/kg=200 J

Therefore, work done by gravitational force,

Wg(P)=Wext(P)=200 J

Hence, option (b) is correct answer.
