When an acid is treated with a basic salt which is used for baking purposes, it produces common salt along with water and a gas which turns lime water milky.

a) When HCl reacts with baking powder (NaHCO3), It forms NaCl (common salt ) and water (H2O) with CO2 gas which turns lime water milky. Balanced reaction is
NaHCO3 +HCl NaCl +H2O +CO2
b) When an electric current is passed through an aqueous sodium chloride solution, hydrogen gas forms at the negative electrode, chlorine gas forms at the positive electrode.
