Solution

The knee joint is made up of three bones- the end of thigh bone (femur), tibia and the patella (knee cap). The bones are supported by numerous ligaments. With increasing age. the tissue that covers the bones, called cartilage, become uneven in certain areas. When we squat or stand, a pop sound comes from these rougher surfaces gliding across each other.
