Solution

Carbon dioxide:

  1. Carbon dioxide is referred to as a greenhouse gas.
  2. It increases the temperature of the earth by trapping the heat.
  3. When the sunlight reaches the earth the surface of the earth absorbs the light energy.
  4. Some of this energy is reemitted towards the space.
  5. Naturally present CO2 and some other greenhouse gases present in the atmosphere traps this heat energy which keeps the earth warmer to support the life on the earth.
  6. The amount of CO2 increases in the atmosphere through human activities like the burning of more fossil fuels and coal.
  7. The increased CO2 traps more heat energy which leads to an increase in the earth’s temperature causing global warming.
  8. Deforestation is also one of the reasons for the increase in CO2 levels
