When two solids are placed on top of each other they do not mix. Why?

2. Due to their set shapes and clear boundaries, two solids stacked on top of one another do not mix.
3. The molecules inside the solid are strongly bounded with a very large intermolecular attraction that the molecules are not free to move.
4. And also there is a different boundary and also because of the different shapes of the solids they do not mix.
