As an eight-year-old girl, Valli's greatest desire was to ride the bus. To fulfil her desire to ride the bus she did a lot of homework. Over many days and months, she listened carefully to conversations between her neighbours and people about the details of the bus journey. She started saving money for the bus fare by not buying toys, balloons etc. She also had to make the journey during the time when her mother took an afternoon nap. So there were many obstacles in Valli's path that she overcame in order to fulfil her desire to ride the bus.
