Open in App
Solution

Atrial natriuretic peptide:

  1. The atrial natriuretic peptide is a hormone that lowers blood pressure and volume.
  2. It's made by the heart's walls in reaction to a rise in blood volume and pressure.
  3. The atria (left and right) and ventricles are the four chambers of the heart (left and right).

The function of atrial natriuretic peptide:

  1. Myocytes in the atria of the heart create atrial natriuretic peptide, which is released in response to community wall stress.
  2. The heart ventricles are the primary source of brain natriuretic peptides.
  3. ANP and BNP, once in the bloodstream, cause natriuresis, diuresis, and a drop in blood pressure.
  4. It lowers blood pressure by causing vasodilation.
