Question

Where does the sound go after being produced?

Open in App
Solution

Heat.

The vibration of air molecules will keep travelling as a wave through the air, with remarkably high efficiency... but not perfect. Gradually, some of that vibrational energy will become absorbed in the materials that it hits. Those materials will become marginally (inperceptably) hotter, and the vibrations in the travelling wave will become fainter.
