Chemiosmosis is the movement of ions from one side to another of a semipermeable membrane in their electrochemical gradient.
The location of chemiosmosis in photosynthesis:
In chloroplasts, for example, an electron transport chain transfers ions (protons) from the stroma (fluid) through the thylakoid membrane to the thylakoid gaps during photosynthesis.
Chemiosmosis occurs mainly in the thylakoids of chloroplast.
It causes a proton gradient to develop across the semipermeable cell membrane, which is linked to the creation of molecules.
