which acid is used to produce brisk effervescence of CO2 when reacted with CaCO3

In a conical flask, when hydrochloric acid is dropped on marble chips ( CaCO3), carbon-dioxide gas get evolved which is passed through delivery tube and gets collected from the upward displacement of air in a hood.

The chemical reaction occurring there is shown as follow:

2HCl + CaCO3 --> CO2 + CaCl2 + H2O
