Generally, most of the serious infections that occur in the body are due to viruses, bacteria, protozoa, etc., and we are less aware of the infections caused by fungus. There are numerous fungal agents/fungi that cause many diseases in humans, appearance of dry, scaly lesions on the various parts of the body like scalp, skin, nails etc are generally caused by fungal agents. For example, many diseases caused by different fungal strains are -mucormycosis, aspergillosis, ringworm, athlete's foot, etc.
Pertussis is a bacterial disease. Pertussis also known as whooping cough, a highly contagious respiratory tract infection caused by a bacterium called Bordetella pertussis. As it is highly contagious, when an infected person sneezes or coughs, germ laden droplets spread over in the air and infect the nearby healthy people.
