The female external genitalia is called the vulva, it’s a global term that describes all of the structures that make the female external genitalia. The components of the vulva are the mon pubis, labia majora, clitoris, vestibular bulbs, vulva vestibule, Bartholin’s glands, Skene’s glands, urethral and vaginal openings.
The area inside the labia minora folds is the vulva vestibule. Within the vestibule are- hymen, vaginal orifice, external urethral orifice, and ducts of several glands like Bartholin’s gland, Skene’s glands, etc.
Although labia majora and mons pubis are parts of the female external genitalia, labia majora and the mons pubis are situated outside the vulva vestibule. Mons pubis is a cushion of fatty tissue covered by skin and pubic hair and labia majora are folds of skin extending from mons pubis, surrounding the vaginal orifice.
