Tools used in the preparation of the soil include plough, plank, hoe and leveller.
∙ Ploughs are made up of wood or iron. It is used to turn and loosen the soil.
∙ The ploughed field may have big pieces of soil called crumbs. A plank is used to break these crumbs.
∙ A leveller is used to level the soil. Levelling the soil makes the process of sowing easier.
∙ A hoe is a tilling tool that can be used by a farmer manually for weed removal and loosening of soil.
∙ A sickle, on the other hand is used by the farmer to cut the crop after it is matured (harvesting).
