CuSO4.5H2O is a copper salt. It is also called blue vitriol. It is a blue, crystalline compound of copper sulphate.

Blue vitriol is soluble in water and is a very important industrial salt of copper. Some uses of copper sulphate salt are:

  • It is used in insecticides.
  • It is used in electrolytes for batteries, and in electroplating baths.
