Solution

Blood Clotting or Coagulation:

Blood clotting or blood coagulation is the process that helps in preventing excessive blood loss from the site of the injury or cut in blood vessels. Blood clotting is the gel-like clump or mesh that plugs the cut or injury in blood vessels that stops blood leak.

  1. Platelets are one of the blood cells that are essential to forming blood clots or coagulation, are also called thrombocytes.
  2. Platelets are small, colorless fragments suspended in the blood plasma and formed in the bone marrow.
  3. During the coagulation process, these cells form a spiny shape and produce coagulation proteins.
  4. Coagulation proteins entrap the blood components such as RBCs, platelets, and other substances that form a semi-solid mesh-like clump.
  5. This clump is a clot that stops the bleeding from the site of injury.
