Diploid chromosome number of female grasshopper is 2n = 24 and that of male grasshopper is 2n = 23. This is because XX-XO mechanism of sex determination is present in grasshoppers wherein females are homogametic (XX) but the male carries only one sex chromosome (XO). Hence, the male grasshopper carries XO sex chromosomes, hence one less chromosome than the female grasshopper and have pairs of autosome (22,X or 2A + XO). Thus, the correct answer is option B.
