Solution:
Kodagu is known as the ‘Kashmir of Karnataka’. Kodagu has three taluks and is the smallest district in Karnataka.
After the decline of Keladi rulers, the Haleri kings ruled Kodagu from 1600 to 1834, after which the British took over the kingdom in 1834. After independence, Kodagu was merged with Karnataka state in 1956.
The Huttari festival is celebrated here. Talakaveri - the birthplace of River Cauvery, Abbey waterfalls, and Dubare Elephant camp is the famous tourist place of Kodagu.
The Kodavas form a major part of the population. Tribes like Kudiya and Malekudiya along with Muslims and Christians are also part of the population.
