Which force binds the atmosphere around earth ? Is gravitational force repulsive? Give reasons .

It is gravity that binds the atmosphere to earth.
It's because gravitational force is always attractive (positive), apart from may be black holes.
Theoretically, the mass/ energy density has to be negative for it to be repulsive.
