Solution

The correct option is A IgE
Immunoglobulin :
Antibodies or immunoglobulins are proteins produced by B lymphocytes that are present in the blood and lymph. They provide immunity against specific antigens.

Types of immunoglobuli :
Immunoglobulins are of different types as follows:
1. IgA
2. IgM
3. IgD
4. IgE
5. IgG

Allergy :
Allergy is the exaggerated response of the immune system of the body to certain antigens. It is basically hypersensitivity of the body. The type of antibody produced during allergy is IgE.

IgA :
IgA is known as the secretory immunoglobulin and is found in all body secretions including the mother’s milk or colostrum. It acts as a first line of defence against invading microbes in body fluids like saliva, tears, etc., even without sensitization of B lymphocytes by the antigen.

IgD :
IgD is present on the surface of B-lymphocytes. It activates B cells to secrete antibodies.

IgG :
IgG crosses the human placenta and provides natural passive immunity in the foetus and newborn. It stimulates phagocytes. IgG neutralises toxins, opsonizes them for phagocytosis, and activates the complement system during immune response.

Final answer :
(c) IgE
