Solution

A stopwatch is a handheld timepiece designed to measure the amount of time elapsed from a particular time when it is activated to the time when the piece is deactivated. A large digital version of a stopwatch designed for viewing at a distance, as in a sports stadium, is called a stop-clock.

Compared to stop clock a stop watch is smaller in size and has better least count.generally in all stop clocks the second hand shifts by one division corresponding to one second after 3 ticks.the least count of such a clock is therefore 1/3 second.
In stop watch the second hand shifts by one second after making certain number of ticks. The number of ticks in one second and the number of subdivisions on the dial are so adjusted that the least count of the watch is wither 0.2 or 0.1 s.
