Solution
Gene:
Gene is the fragment of DNA containing genetic information.
It is a hereditary material present inside the nucleus.
To get the information about complete DNA sequence and Human genes, the Human Genome project was carried out in 2013.
The largest human gene is
DMD (Dystrophin).
DMD gives information for the synthesis of the protein dystrophin.
This protein is found in Skeletal as well as Cardiac muscles.
A little amount of dystrophin is present in the nervous tissues of the Brain.
This protein functions to protect Skeletal muscles and cardiac muscles from injury during movement.
It also provides strength to muscle fibres and helps in providing the structural framework.
In nerve cells, it helps in cell-to-cell communication.
