Question

Which measure of center should you use to describe two data sets that are both symmetric?

Open in App
Solution

Measure of center used to describe two data sets that are both symmetric:
Two numerical measures of center is the mean and median which can determine the center as the average value if the the distribution is symmetric and if not, the median can be used because it is not resistant to outliers.

For example : Height of 3 students in cm is 70,72,74
So, the means of the students =70+72+743
=72
And the median of the data =72 (mid term of data)

Hence, mean and median can be used.
