The microorganism that is used for the formation of curd is a bacteria named Lactobacillus.

The human small intestine contains greater numbers of bacteria including coliforms (E. coli and relatives) and Bacteroides, in addition to lactobacilli and enterococci. These together known as bacterial flora.
