Solution

The correct option is D Diaminopimelic acid
Diaminopimelic acid is a amino acid which is present in bacteria and blue green algae. It is a derivative of lysine. It is found in the peptide linkages of NAM-NAG chains that make up the cell wall of Gram-negative bacteria. During its deficiency, bacteria is able to grow but they are unable to synthesize proteoglycan for the new cell wall. It is involved in cross-linking of the peptides by pentaglycine bridges in Gram-positive bacteria.
So, the correct answer is option B.
