Solution

The correct option is A

NO3, CO32

The number of electrons in the following are:

NO3 7 + 8(3) + 1 = 32 electrons

CO23 6 + 8(3) + 2 = 32 electrons

ClO3 17 + 8(3) + 2 = 42 electrons

SO3 16 + 8(3) = 40 electrons

Now, from VSEPR, we have know the structure of CO23 and NO3.

ep of CO23 = V+L+AC2 = 4+22 = 3 Trigonal Planar

ep of NO3 = V+L+AC2 = 5+12 = 3 Trigonal Planar

ep of SO3 =62 = 3 Trigonal Planar

ep of ClO3 = 7+12 = 4 Tetrahedral

Therefore, CO32 and NO3 are isoelectronic and isostructural.
