Which of the following are the factors that affect transpiration?
Intensity of light
Humidity
Factors that affect transpiration are:
Light: Plants transpire more rapidly in the light than in the dark. This is because light stimulates the opening of the stomata. Light also speeds up transpiration by increasing to the temperature of the leaf cells which increases the rate of water converting into vapour.
Humidity: As the humidity of the outside atmosphere is increased, transpiration decreases because simple diffusion doesn't take place.
Temperature: Plants transpire more rapidly at higher temperatures because water evaporates more rapidly as the temperature rises. also, warm air is more capable of holding water vapour than cold air.
Wind speed: When there is no breeze, the air surrounding a leaf becomes increasingly humid thus reducing the rate of transpiration. When there are heavy winds, it brings a lot of dry air which increases transpiration.
