In electrophilic substitution reaction, more the electron density on the ring, faster is its rate of reaction. Phenol will undergo electrophilic substitution more readily than benzene. It is because OH group in phenol is electron releasing whereas CHO in benzaldehyde, COOH in benzoic acid and NO2 in nitrobenzene are deactivating groups and hence are less reactive than phenol.
So, (d) is correct.
