(a) Benzaldehyde gives a positive Tollens' test.

(b) This compound on hydrolysis produces an aldehyde which gives a positive Tollens' test.

(c) Hydroxyl amines on treatment with warm Tollens' reagent get oxidised to nitroso compound and reduces Tollens' reagent to metallic silver. This reaction is used as a test for nitro compounds and is called the Baker - Mullikens' test.
