Solution

The correct options are
B The competition from the Kalabhras
C The conflict with the Pallavas
D The power struggle with the Cholas
The Pandyas did not have a smooth rise to power. They re-established themselves in southern Tamil Nadu by the end of the 6th century CE after they defeated the Kalabhras. They could not grow further as they were incapable of resisting the rising Cholas. This struggle between the Pandyas and the Cholas continued from 9th to 13th century. The Pandyas also had to manoeuvre through conflicts with the Pallavas. They finally came to power at the end of the 13th century and would go on to rule till the end of the 16th century.
