When an object is placed in the path of light, a dark portion is formed on the opposite side of the object. This dark portion is the shadow. Now the size of the shadow depends on the distance between the screen on which the shadow is being formed, the object and also on the distance between the light source and the object. Based on these parameters the size of a shadow can be smaller or bigger or same as compared to the size of the opaque object.
